  There is something really special and sweet about owls. They symbolize wisdom and a nocturnal life. I think I’ve always loved painting, and of course, I love animals and painting nature. It seems only natural that I would join the two and paint nature. I have many paintings of animals but I love this one.
  
  I’ve been painting with watercolor for a few decades now. I love layering the colors to make them seem deeper than watercolor normally looks. Each layer of color has to be allowed to dry before another in used, so this method takes a long time. I would say this painting took a couple weeks to complete.
  
  This is an original watercolor painting on paper. The colors for the background were layered in many layers of color. The sky was left as a green background as if there were more forest back there that you cannot see from this angle. It was a fun painting to create and to make colors pop. I could see this one to be easy to decorate around because of the minimal colors of browns and greens. I would love to see each of these paintings of mine find a nice home.
  
  The paper is 18” x 24” unframed, large enough to offset a large room or put over the fireplace or couch.
