  This is an original Collage painting on paper created by gluing torn and cut pieces of magazines, calendars, and catalogs on paper. I start by drawing the picture on paper and begin searching for just the right colors for each image. It takes quite some time usually. I can safely say I spent 20 hours on this one.
  
  This picture is from a photo of a cowboy that I thought was interesting. My father often wore a Stetson and thought of himself as John Wayne. His hat got so old and worn that we (his daughters) teased him that we were going to name his ranch the “Ugly Hat Ranch”. Only now that he is passed do I wish I could see that ugly hat just one more time. That’s what this cowboy reminds me of. I love creating collage because it is difficult and distinctive. Also, I feel very good about repurposing things normally thrown away, destined to take up space in some landfill. This was a fun painting to create and to make the colors pop. I would love to see it find a nice home.
  
  The paper is 23” x 17.5”, large enough to offset a large room or put over the fireplace or couch.
  
  This painting is being sold unframed for ease of shipping.
